Concept: Range Bands For Weapons

Sandwyrm here. I still haven't given up on the idea of having more realistic ranges for M42. But that depends on having appropriate range modifiers. So that a Grunt's las-rifle will have a harder time hitting something on the other side of the table than something close up. But I also don't want to have a different set of range bands and modifiers for every weapon. So we need a way to standardize the idea.

 Something like this, though I'm not wedded to these specific numbers:


There would then be only 2 other modifiers: Concealed and Gone-To-Ground.

So, is this simple enough? Or is it too complex to consider?

EDIT: Ooops! I left out that each weapon would have it's own individual maximum range. The range bands are only for to-hit purposes. Very few pistols, for instance, would be able to shoot past 24". :)
