Shooting
i. Shooting
Steps
1.
Activate Firing Unit
2.
Perform unit moves (as allowed by action), either before or
after shooting.
3.
Select target unit(s).
a.
If the shooting unit’s selected action allows it to split it’s
fire, the unit’s controlling player must declare which of his models are firing
at which enemy units.
b.
To target a unit, choose an enemy model from that unit to
shoot at.
c.
You always take the easiest shots. If one model is standing
outside of cover, then the whole unit doesn’t get cover bonuses.
d.
Check Line of Sight & Concealment (Unit)
i. To
shoot at the enemy unit, at least one of your models must be able to draw LoS
to at least one model in an opposing unit.
ii. You
can only kill as many models as you can see.
iii. Only
as many models as can see the target may fire at it.
iv. LoS
Blocking Terrain
1.
Will block LoS to models fully within or behind it.
2.
Models in or behind such terrain can only be targeted if the
distance from the firing model(s) to the target models is <= the firing unit’s
Awareness (Aw) stat.
3.
If the firing unit is on a lower level than the target unit
(at least 1” lower), it’s normal Awareness Range is halved.
4.
If the firing unit is on a higher level than the target unit
(at least 1” higher), it’s normal Awareness range is doubled.
e.
Check Line of Sight (Unit Leader)
i. Check
to see if the firing unit’s leader can draw LoS to any model in the target
unit. Use the same rules for LoS-blocking terrain as for the unit.
ii. If
the leader cannot draw Los to the targeted unit, then the targeted unit gains a
+1 Ev bonus.
iii. When
targeting multiple enemy units, the leader can only concentrate on a single
target (Except for ‘Open Fire’ actions). Select one target for the unit leader
to concentrate on. All other targets will gain a +1 Ev bonus.
f.
Check Target Range
i. Target
must be within the range of the unit’s weapons.
ii. Who’s
in range is determined per-model.
iii. Range
for laser/beam weapons is always measured horizontally (top down) from the shooter to the
target.
iv. Weapons
with bullets or energy bolts measure their range diagonally (side on) from the
shooter to the target if the shooter is lower than the target.
v. This
gives laser/beam weapons a slight range bonus when shooting at higher targets.
g.
Check Firing Unit’s Awareness
i. If
the distance to the target is further than the unit’s Awareness range, then the
target unit gets a +1 Ev bonus.
h.
Check Target Concealment
i. Applies
to targets behind or within concealing terrain.
ii. Also
applies to targets fully within or behind LoS-Blocking terrain if the distance
from the shooting models to the target models is within the shooting unit’s
Awareness range.
iii. Concealed
targets get a +1 Ev bonus.
i.
Check Target Gone-To-Ground Status
i. If
the target is GtG, then they receive both +1 Ev, and +1 Toughness.
